The unbelievable sight of a 30 meter wide river bed, empty for miles, I sought to set up my 1m x 2m canvas centrally to capture its fatigue.
In a performative effort to wade through the muddy river bed, I strung rope from each side of the river’s edge to the bare roots of trees searching for water.
Activism and the awareness of the cause of the empty river, due to cotton farming upstream resulted in a protest, more than the intended plein-air painting.
